A record-breaking victory at the 2026 Bathurst 12 Hour has left motorsport fans in awe! The MERCEDES-AMG Team GMR has shattered all expectations, achieving an incredible comeback from the lowest starting position in history.
Imagine starting 29th due to a mechanical glitch, and then rising like a phoenix to seize the moment when it mattered most! Maro Engel, Mikael Grenier, and Maxime Martin proved that determination knows no bounds.

The final hour was a thriller! With the BMW Safety Car making its last appearance, the race intensified. Jayden Ojeda and Chaz Mostert's battle for 13th position kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Ojeda's aggressive blocking on Pit Straight after their clash at The Chase led to a dramatic moment as he tagged the wall at Griffins Bend, ricocheting into Mostert's terminally damaged Mercedes.
This incident brought most of the field into the pits, except for Kelvin van der Linde, who took the lead after topping up during the previous Safety Car period. But the question remained: Did van der Linde have enough fuel to maintain his position?
As the green flag waved with just under 40 minutes left, the battle for the lead commenced. Gounon launched an aggressive attack on van der Linde's BMW, resulting in contact and sending the reigning champion wide. Maxime Martin seized the opportunity, soaring into the lead.
Astonishingly, Boccolacci, driving a Bronze class car, rose to second place, closely followed by Farfus in third. Both van der Linde and Gounon sustained damage, with the BMW's rear left suffering significant issues, forcing officials to black flag van der Linde to remove loose bodywork.
Max Hesse, driving the Team KRC BMW, was on a charge, moving up to challenge Will Brown for fourth place with only 10 minutes remaining.
The #888 Mercedes-AMG Team GMR car ultimately took the chequered flag, winning by a narrow margin of just over a second from the Kerong Li, Anders Fjordbach, and Boccolacci Porsche, which claimed victory in the Bronze class.
Farfus held on for third in the #46 Team WRT BMW, joined by Valentino Rossi and Raffaele Marciello, who celebrated their second consecutive 12 Hour podium finish. Brown and Hesse crossed the line in fourth and fifth, with Hesse securing second place in the Bronze class.
In the Pro-Am category, the #45 RAM Motorsport/GWR Australia Mercedes, driven by Brett Hobson, Dylan O'Keeffe, and Garth Walden, dominated, finishing 13th overall with a comfortable lead over the class runner-up.
The sole remaining Invitational class entry, the #111 111 Racing IRC GT, driven by Darren Currie, Axle Donaldson, and Danny Stutterd, finished 25th overall.
The only GT4 entry, the #42 Method Motorsport McLaren, piloted by Adrian Kunzle, Kevin Madsen, and Steven Agakhani, crossed the line right behind them in 26th position.
