Boldly stepping into the spotlight, Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane is reportedly set to take on a leading role in the next exciting installment of the renowned Shootout series, titled Shootout in Dubai. Although neither the production team nor Rane himself has officially validated these claims, various sources indicate that preparations are underway for this franchise’s inaugural international venture.
As per a report from Mid-Day, Shootout in Dubai is intended to be a fresh narrative that expands the gritty crime saga beyond the familiar underbelly of Mumbai, instead weaving a fictional tale set against the vibrant and cosmopolitan backdrop of Dubai. This ambitious project is said to be spearheaded by Ektaa R. Kapoor in partnership with seasoned filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who played a pivotal role in creating the original Shootout films.
The Shootout franchise kicked off with Shootout at Lokhandwala in 2007, which presented a dramatized account of one of Mumbai’s most infamous police encounters. This was followed by the release of Shootout at Wadala in 2013. Both films, crafted by Kapoor and Gupta, quickly garnered a reputation for their stylized action sequences, deeply rooted in real-life events.
According to the reports, a number of script drafts for Shootout in Dubai have been in development since 2021, with writers striving to preserve the tense atmosphere and raw intensity that fans of the series have come to expect. Interestingly, while previous installments were based on actual events, this new edition is anticipated to be entirely fictional, yet it aims to maintain the franchise's hallmark of thrilling action and dramatic moments.
This potential involvement in such a project could signify a notable evolution in Rane’s career trajectory. In recent years, he has emerged as a prominent figure among Bollywood’s younger actors, especially following the successful re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam and the romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which has also enjoyed commercial success in 2025.
At this point, specifics regarding the full cast, crew, and release date remain unconfirmed. Neither the production house nor Harshvardhan Rane has made any official announcements affirming his participation or the film’s status.
